Motorcycle tour to Croatia
It occurs to us to write about this topic following the exciting story of an Italian couple who organized a motorcycle tour to the islands of Croatia.
Initially the idea was to tour a few islands, but their love for Dugi otok was so great that the trip focused on this long, narrow patch of land in the Adriatic Sea.
Motorcycle tour to Croatia
First of all, the trip starts from the harbour of Zadar Gazenica where we very easily board the Jadrolinija ferry to Brbinj, the village of Dugi otok.
In fact, you park your motorcycle following the instructions of the sailors on board and the ferry always departs on time from Zadar. Then just to enjoy the good Adriatic air and sunshine right away, sit outside as you are on vacation.

Immediately when you arrive on the island you can smell the scent of wild herbs covering Dugi otok. Even more, the asphalt on the road is in excellent condition so that the two-wheelers travel is an extreme pleasure. Above all, there is no traffic, no traffic lights ane even no traffic circles, which makes traveling on the island a pure enjoyment!
On the other hand, with the bike you can reach all the villages on the island that are connected by the single road. In fact, these are fishing villages in which few people live in winter and crowd in summer with the arrival of the tourists.
Then the coves you reach are wonderful because they are absolutely wild in the sense that you can still find places to be completely alone. For example, there is the beach of Veli Zal which is stunning because of its shades of blue, or the bays near Verunic such as Sakarun beach and the big lighthouse. Also, not to be missed is the day trip to Kornati National Park, a true spectacle of nature!
Here are some suggestions for a day trip to spend among these Croatian islands.
What to pack in the suitecase for a motorcycle tour to Dugi otok
Especially when traveling by motorcycle you need to think about how to pack your suitcase, so here are some practical tips. In fact, listening to the opinion of many motorcyclists the smartest thing is to always dress in layers for the trip.
To start it’s a good idea to wear a water-repellent suit because there’s nothing worse than getting wet a long way from home, even though it hardly ever rains in Dugi otok!
Also the great thing about the islands of Croatia in summer is that you just need a pair of jeans, a sweatshirt, a quickly washable microfiber T-shirt and a swimsuit. Of course the add sunglasses, a phone charger and an electrical outlet adapter for Croatia.
Certainly all agree on one thing and that is to wear an old helmet or at least one with which you are very comfortable. Because a helmet is like a new shoe: when it looks good, it may not be as comfortable!
Finally, it is good to make sure you have a minimum of tools with you, and in the repair kit there goes a screwdriver, pliers, some battery cables, wire and some plastic ties.
